MONERI ORDER ON REVIEW
Case No. 104/2007 CR 680/2007
Order No.5/2007 In the Maseru District
matter has been placed before me on review.
following have affected justice of this case:-
(i) The accused is a young mother of 21. Ntseliseng Moneri is her
probably illegitimate child.
(ii) The accused was not represented at the trial.
(iii) She pleaded guilty to what ex facie appeared an innocuous
charge under section 8 (3) of the Sexual Offences Act.
(iv) Seemingly she was under control of her boy-friend "Sempe
Shoaepane" (who seems to be the actual perpetrator of
acts/molestation on the poor child. This terrible man must be
arrested immediately and charged.
(v) The accused was smacked with an 8 years imprisonment sentence.
She was not even a socius criminis!
that the proceedings be quashed and Sempe Shoaepane face trial and
Ntsoaki Moneri to give evidence.
